Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy to promote fast pain relief

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) uses shockwaves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. It’s a very effective form of sports medicine and can also help those in need of orthopaedic treatment.

ESWT has many advantages over surgery as it’s non-invasive, presents fewer potential complications and patients can typically resume their normal activities much faster than they would be able to with other treatments.

If you wish to proceed with Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, three treatments will be performed at weekly intervals. The area being treated will be positioned against the head of the ESWT machine and a shockwave will be delivered to the area. Most patients say it feels like nothing more than a little pulse.

Often used in orthopaedics and sports medicine, Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is recognised as a treatment for a number of musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • Heel Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
  • Achilles Pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Jumper’s Knee Patella Tendonitis
  • Shin Splints
  • Neck and Lower Back Pain (Trigger Points)
  • Plantar Fasciitis
