Frequently asked questions about Basuto Medical Centre

£160 for adults and £140 for children, for a 30-minute consultation including any written prescription and referral letters – you pay the pharmacy for the medicine itself. There is no same-day surcharge. Blood tests, vaccinations and some additional services carry separate fees, always explained before anything is arranged.

Three plans: Access at £30/month (priority booking, appointments at £80), Adult at £85/month (10 appointments a year, named GP) and Under-16 at £55/month (10 appointments a year). Adult Unlimited (£115/month) and Child Unlimited (£85/month) plans are also available for unlimited appointments (fair use applies), and an annual health check is available as a one-off £360 fee. There is no joining fee. Membership runs on a 12-month minimum term, then continues with 3 months’ written notice to cancel, and a 14-day cooling-off period applies when you join (consultations used are charged at the single rate).

Yes. Register two or more members of the same household on membership together and receive 10% off the combined monthly total. Plans can mix – for example, two adults and two children cost £252 a month instead of £280.

Yes. Where clinically appropriate, your GP can issue a private prescription during the appointment and dispense it in-house, or send it to your preferred pharmacy. The prescription itself is included in the consultation fee; you pay the pharmacy for the medicine. See our prescriptions page.

Yes, where clinically appropriate. Regular medication is reviewed periodically to make sure it remains safe and suitable, and repeats can then be prepared without a full appointment each time. New medicines or dose changes need a consultation.

Yes. Blood tests can be arranged when clinically indicated, usually with samples taken at the practice, and carry a separate fee your GP will explain first. Your GP reviews every result and contacts you with findings and next steps.

Yes. If specialist input is needed, your GP will prepare a referral letter for NHS or private care, included in your consultation fee. We can also share consultation summaries with your NHS GP, with your written consent.

Yes, from birth onwards – infections, fevers, rashes, feeding concerns, development checks and vaccinations. Children’s consultations are £140 for 30 minutes, and Dr Nora Al-Saraf and Dr James Pozzi both have special interests in paediatrics. Under-16s are always seen with a parent or guardian. Yes. Under-16 membership is £55 a month and includes 10 appointments a year of paediatric GP care with priority booking. A child can be a member without a parent joining, and the Family plan is available for households with two or more members, combining adult and child rates.

At 29 Basuto Road, Fulham, London SW6 4BJ – three minutes’ walk from Parsons Green and five minutes from Parsons Green station on the District line. The number 22 bus stops on New Kings Road nearby, and pay-and-display parking is available in the surrounding roads.

Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm; the practice is closed at weekends and on bank holidays. Out-of-hours cover is provided through our partner Doctorcall – call the surgery number for details. In an emergency always call 999.

No. Private GP care runs alongside NHS care, not instead of it. Your NHS registration is unaffected, you can keep using NHS services as normal, and with your consent we can send consultation summaries to your NHS GP.

Yes. Basuto is registered with the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England, and has served Fulham and Parsons Green from the same address since 1990. Inspection reports are on the CQC website.
