Local GP care
A Fulham GP practice built around time and continuity
Basuto Medical Centre has cared for patients in London since 1990. We provide exceptional care to adults, children and families who want rapid access to a doctor, longer consultations and exceptional care that continues beyond a single visit. Some patients come to us because something has changed suddenly and they want to be seen quickly.
Patients come to us with chronic illness, medication queries, ongoing symptoms or issues that have not been fully resolved elsewhere. Some need a same-day appointment; others want a GP practice they can return to over time. That continuity is especially useful for children, family care, women’s health, men’s health, preventative care and longer-term conditions, where the pattern matters as much as the immediate symptom.
When your doctor can see previous consultations, test results, referrals and medication history, the appointment starts from a stronger position.

Your appointment
What your GP can assess in 30 minutes
Your appointment starts with a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, current medication and what you are most concerned about. If you have previous test results, hospital letters or medication information, your GP can review these with you during the consultation.
Where an examination or blood test is needed, this is carried out during an in-person appointment. Your GP will then explain what may be causing the problem, what needs to be ruled out, and whether treatment, investigation, referral or monitoring is the appropriate next step.
The aim is for you to leave feeling with a clearer understanding of what may be happening and the most appropriate next step. This can include a written prescription, blood tests, a referral letter, a medical letter, a follow-up appointment or a combination of these.
Appointment access
In-person, video and same-day GP appointments
In-person appointments are recommended when examination, testing or a prescribing review is likely to be important. Video or telephone appointments may be suitable for some conditions, where a physical examination is not needed. A first appointment can be by video, though where possible we prefer to meet you in person.
We keep same-day appointments available where capacity allows, with morning and afternoon slots Monday to Friday.
If you are unsure which format is right, the practice team can help you choose.
Same-visit support
Prescriptions, blood tests, referrals and medical letters
At Basuto, your GP can arrange or prepare several common follow-through actions from the same consultation where clinically appropriate.
- Private prescriptions (read more): medication can be prescribed and sent to your preferred pharmacy, or dispensed in-house. Repeat prescriptions can also be reviewed to make sure they remain safe and appropriate.
- Blood tests: blood tests can help investigate symptoms, monitor treatment, and guide health optimisation and preventative care, including cardiovascular risk.
- Specialist referrals: as a well-established, reputable practice, we have excellent relationships with some of the best consultants in London. If specialist input is required, your GP can direct you to an appropriate consultant and prepare a clear private referral letter.
- Medical letters and sick notes: letters for work, school, travel, insurance or fitness to attend can be prepared where appropriate after assessment.
- Follow-up: your GP can advise when to review results, monitor symptoms or book a further appointment.
Blood tests and some additional services carry separate fees. Your GP will explain what is recommended and why before arranging next steps.
